The fascia is like a 3D spider web matrix.

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on form of therapy that focuses on your fascial system as the key structure for creating lasting changes in your body.  Your fascia is a fluid, 3D web-like connective tissue that runs from the top of your head to the tips of your toes without interruption giving your body its structure and shape.  It is dense, multi-layered and surrounds, attaches, and penetrates all structures including your muscles, tendons, nerves, arteries, organs and bones.  (Think of the white connective pith in an orange as a visual).

Healthy fascia has the ability to stretch and move without restriction.  Physical trauma, emotional trauma, surgery, scarring, inflammation, repetitive stress and poor posture can result in your fascia losing its liquidity and pliability. It becomes hardened, tight, restricted, and a source of tension to the rest of your body.

Fascial restrictions can create CRUSHING pressure (up to 2000 pounds per square inch!) on pain producing structures causing you symptoms such as pain, headaches or restriction of motion and can produce adverse effects on your muscular, cellular, neurological and metabolic systems.

These restrictions do not appear on any standard diagnostic tests (x-rays, MRIs, CAT scans, electromyography) and can often be the undiscovered source of a myriad of problems in your body.

During a myofascial release treatment, gentle sustained pressure is applied into your myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate tension, pain and restore motion. This sustained pressure is what allows your fascia to soften, to liquify, and to move again leading to lasting change.

Every session is different as your fascia softens and unwinds in a non linear pattern and releases what your body is willing and ready to let go of.  Many people will experience feelings, memories, and emotions associated with the injury or trauma that the tissue may be holding.  In addition, Myofascial Release is deeply relaxing and nourishing to your nervous system.

Many people have found lasting and successful healing, pain relief and ease of symptoms with Myofascial Release treatments.  Myofascial release is a process and a partnership between the provider and the client.  When you commit to multiple sessions booked closely together, you will receive the most benefit in the least amount of time.
